used since last year, my family is Arcor DSL and VOIP package including a flat rate to the German fixed network and the Vodafone mobile network together with an AVM FritzBox 7270. And until a few months ago and it worked just fine.
Since spring 2009, it was repeatedly interrupted connections right on the phone. It made no difference whether you call was built or even the conversation.
some time to fully groped in the dark but finally I found a forum thread in which to exchange for some time, other stakeholders in IP Phone Forum . All three common
FritzBox, Arcor, VOIP.
How come now to the error? What one can say for sure. Is that all owners of an AVM FritzBox are concerned that use VOIP by Arcor and firmware from the fall of 2008 and newer. Only older firmware versions from early 2008 allowing a trouble-free "VoIP", ie telephone calls over the Internet.
For FritzBox 7270 is the error-free firmware version 54.04.59. These can be here load down. Whereas if you used FritzBox 7170 you need the firmware version 29.04.59 .
who reads here and is affected by the same problem can do that too. Open any browser (like Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera ) and then enter the address fritz.box in the address bar. After a password, you reach the user interface. Here you can either check the firmware version used.
The first stop was the manufacturer AVM. However, the e-mails to the AVM Customer Help Desk is not particularly enlightening. They wanted high-speed data analysis. These data and some e-mails later, unfortunately not eliminated the observed error. The AVM-customer said the problem would not be at the FritzBox and therefore the buck slipped to Arcor. Arcor but pushed it back, pointing out that the Arcor / Vodafone customer support can only help for problems with manufacturing quality hardware ....
Not very customer friendly? Some users in the IP-Phone Forum suspect behind the tactics of third-party hardware such as AVM shut. So what can you do? I suggest Arcor write directly or call.

write faxes, e-mails or calls and even calls for improvement, sets deadline (2-4 weeks) and threatening to switch to other providers. Only when it comes to money will improve anything.
Update 03/10/2009
The problem no longer exists. See here
